Jeweledway : JohnPaul Anderson Son of a prominent American sculptor, JohnPaul Anderson studied in England at West Surrey College of Art & Design, and in the US at Arizona State University and Northwestern University. At ASU he was privileged to receive mentorship from art photography historian Bill Jay. There he interacted with many of the legends of art photography including Eugene Smith, Paul Caponigro, Minor White, and Ansel Adams. While at ASU, JohnPaul immersed himself in the fields of photography, holography, lasers and quantum mechanics. Upon graduation, JohnPaul moved to Chicago and enjoyed a career as a professional photographer. A private, deep-thinking person, he developed his art virtually free of outside influence--pursuing a related career. As an information technologist at AT&T Bell Labs, he tapped into cutting-edge technological resources and primary scientific research. JohnPaul later worked as a technology consultant. Technical patents and a book bear his name. After years of advancement in dual fields, his artwork now integrates science, technology and pictorial art in a way that evokes wonder and awe. Working with relationships of light, space and time, he explores implicit worlds that manifest through the use of an inimitable set of instruments and variables. His unique process of abstraction and coalescence produces imagery that speaks to worlds more real than real. JohnPaul believes that when abstraction and coalescence occurs, time and space are surpassed. Something happens that transcends the boundaries of both viewer and creator—in which a greater truth is revealed.
